Realtors win VIREB awards

Nanaimo realtors are among the cream of the crop on Vancouver Island.

RE/MAX of Nanaimo’s Rob Grey was one of four realtors recognized with a Realtor Care Award during the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s 60th anniversary celebration and awards at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre Feb. 24.

Subhadra Ghose, also of RE/MAX of Nanaimo, received the group’s Realtor of the Year honour. Also during the weekend celebration, the organization announced a $60,000 legacy endowment fund to help Island students attend either Vancouver Island University and North Island College, in collaboration with the Real Estate Foundation of B.C.

“When we began planning for the celebration of VIREB’s 60th anniversary a number of alternatives for a legacy project presented themselves. Not until an education endowment was suggested did our focus jell,” said Marty Douglas, chairman of the 60th Anniversary committee.

The two-day event also included the election of the 2011 board of directors, including: president Jim Stewart, of Coast Realty Group, Nanaimo; and director Jennifer Merilees, of Coast Realty Group, Nanaimo.
