Sprit 20 captures the essence of jazz and classical music in a performance at the Port Theatre.

The group, which was launched at the Festival of Sound last summer, highlights the unique talents in both classical and jazz of the individuals.

John Novacek and James Campbell are known for their improvisation; Grammy award winner Guy Few’s versatility on trumpet, piano, and voice; Chloe Dominguez’s contemporary music experience; James McKay’s virtuoso technique on bassoon; and Mark Fewer who arranged Duke Ellington’s Jungle Music.

To truly bridge the gap between classical and jazz, separating the old and making life new, the program will feature arrangements drawing from greats such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and George Gershwin.

Spirit 20 performs Sunday (March 13), 7:30 p.m., at the Port Theatre. Tickets $35; $31/members; $15/students. The show qualifies for the EyeGo program. For tickets, please visit www.porttheatre.com or call 250-754-8550.
