Following last year’s sold-out performance at St. Andrew’s United Church, the Malaspina Choir will bring ‘The Really Big Sing-Along Messiah’ to the Port Theatre.

Handel’s masterpiece concert will be bigger than ever, noted a release, with the accompanying Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra doubling their players from last year. Oboist Pippa Williams, trumpeter Merrie Klazak and organist Jenny Vincent will complete the orchestra.

The release also noted that soloists Eve-Lyn de la Haye, soprano, Adam Schmidt, tenor, and Louis Deillon, bass, are all delighted to return. This year’s performance will introduce Deanna Sills, mezzo-soprano, to the audience.

“Even if audience members do not know the choruses, they can … immerse themselves within a huge chorus. We hope that hundreds of Messiah scores will be dusted off and their owners come to the Port Theatre to croon, warble or hum along,” said Malaspina Choir’s director Fiona Blackburn in the release.

The concert will be held at the Port Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for people under 25 years old, and free admission for children under 12 years old. Tickets can be purchased online at www.porttheatre.com.
