Back-to-back wins have Nanaimo Timbermen back in the mix in WLA

Nanaimo defeats New West 15-6, gets past Langley 8-6

The Nanaimo Timbermen have caught up to the pack in the Western Lacrosse Association.

The senior A box lacrosse team had won two straight games heading into the long weekend, defeating the New Westminster Salmonbellies by a 15-6 score on June 23 at Frank Crane Arena, then following up with an 8-6 win on the road June 26 against the Langley Thunder.

In the blowout win, Zach Manns, Jason Knox and Taggart Clark all scored hat tricks and Colby Bowman made 34 saves for the win.

In the midweek game, Jon Phillips had two goals and two assists and Knox dished six assists. Bowman made 46 saves as his team was outshot 52-47.

Nanaimo (3-5) is just four points behind second-place New West.

GAME ON … The T-men play the Burnaby Lakers on the road Tuesday, July 2. Nanaimo then hosts the Thunder on Sunday, July 7, at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
